Congo Joins Agrostudies Program

20141216_122503Congo is the latest country to join the Agrostudies program, having recently sent 11 students to intern on farms in Israel. They arrived a short while after the beginning of the school year but have quickly settled in and begun their work and studies.

After their arrival they were divided into two groups, four students were sent to the South, to study in Kfar Silver and the rest attend classes at Ruppin College every Tuesday. All their classes are taught in French, as the Congolese are French speakers. They study together with other students from Senegal, the Ivory Coast and other French speaking students. They reside in Netanya and work on a Kibbutz in the Kfar Saba region, focusing on Horticulture.

I met with several of them a week after their arrival and spoke with Lindo Buhari to find out how they are adjusting and what their hopes and expectations are from this year. This is a short video of my interview with Lindo, who seemed to have overcome the initial shock of arrival quite quickly and expressed his optimism towards the coming year.
