Former Student Yvves Theoneste Continues to Develop Rwanda Agriculture

IMG-20151001-WA0003Less than a year ago we shared the story of Yvves Theoneste from Rwanda, who graduated from Agrostudies in 2013 and has been working tirelessly sharing his knowledge with his peers and established a cooperative in Rwanda, called HADASICO (Hadash agro-promoters for self-employment and innovation).

Well, today we are happy to provide a follow-up. Thanks to his great efforts and dedication Yvves Theoneste has been appointed Director of Agriculture and Natural Resources for Gicumbi District.

Rwanda is divided into 4 provinces, the Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western provinces, and each province includes 30 districts. The districts are the level on which national plans for agricultural activities are first mobilized. Each district in fact includes 416 sectors that are in turn divided in to cells and villages.

This places Mr. Theoneste in a position to implement and benefit his country, circulating the knowledge he has to the largest circles. He says: “Agriculture is our wisest pursuit, as in the end it will contribute the most to our real wealth, good morals and happiness” and adds that his motto is “I may not be there yet, but I’m closer than I was yesterday”.

No doubt with such ambition he will continue to reach far and do great things for his community and country.
